SIR STANLEY MATTHEWS:
"The man who taught us the way football should be played!" ~ Pelé
"I grew up in an era when he was a god to those of us who aspired to play the game. He was a true gentleman and we shall never see his like again!" ~ Brian Clough

The 'Motion Comic' and 'Movie':
The 'Spirit of the Game' movie is a landmark in animated filmmaking. It is not only destined to become a classically animated indie movie in its own right but it will also become an online interactive motion comic - so that fans around the world can enjoy the story of Stan and Jamie from the comfort of their own computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone!
Nobody has ever epitomized the British spirit of kindness, tolerance and genius better than the late, great Sir Stanley Matthews. Our animated story will uniquely celebrate a return of this inspirational legend to the screen - to entertain us, to inspire us and to hopefully restore our faith in human nature and personal transformation at the same time!
'Spirit of the Game' will take traditional 2D animated filmmaking to new areas of socially-relevant expression and creative storytelling. It will do so in a way that only the very best of award-winning, British live-action dramas can do - yet with the added dimension of mature hand-crafted animation, far removed from a traditional 'cartoon' norm!
'Spirit of the Game' is set in the contemporary world of Premiere League soccer. Yet it is not a sporting film. It is instead a hero's journey through a real-life, tough urban environment - as experienced by a talented young footballer, Jamie Steele, who is slowly being led from the straight and narrow by his contemporaries and his soulless environment. However, the ghost of 'Sir Stan' steps in at a critical turning point in Jamie's downward spiral and, as is true with all guardian-angel stories from the 'Its a Wonderful Life' tradition, he shows the youngster a better way to play - and to live!
In our world of misguided aspirations, inflated incomes/egos and the loss of something that cannot be valued from a material perspective alone, the groundbreaking 'Spirit of the Game' animated project is very much a story for our times!
